The UARA STARS are gearing up for October racing at it’s best. Beginning this weekend October 12th at Newport Speedway the UARA will start the first race of several back to back races. With the point battles both Championship and Rookie of the Year up for grabs the excitement level will be high. Following Newport will be Tri County Motor Speedway on October 19th then Anderson Motor Speedway October 26th.

Drivers that are at the top of the Newport Point chase have pre registered to take on the STARS. Taylor Coffman, Dean Webb, Kaleb Pressley and Roger Powell to name a few have stated their intentions to go for the trophy.

Another very familiar face coming back to join the STARS will be 2004 UARA Rookie of the Year Steve Wallace. Wallace is not a stranger to the winner’s circle at a UARA event. He won Coastal Plains, Nashville and Bristol in his Rookie season and holds the record for most wins in a Rookie season. Wallace has returned periodically to the UARA to take in the action and collected one more win at Concord in 2011.

UARA alumni both past and present made a showing this past weekend at the Martinsville Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 300. Dillon Bassett, Garrett Campbell, Ronnie Bassett Jr, Jamey Caudill, Adam Long, Ben Rhodes, Brodie Kostecki, B.J. Mackey, Chad Finchum, David Garbo Jr, David Roberts, Jason York, Brandon Dean, Alex Yontz, Ashley Huffman, Garrett Jones, Trey Marcham, Brad Kurth, Joey Muccicacciaro, and Will Gallaher were all there to give it a go. Hats off to all these young men on their accomplishments.

Not only were they impressive throughout the weekend, the finish was one of extreme excitement and controversy. Young UARA point leader Dillon Bassett raced his heart out and was awarded second place. He was leading the pack on a green, white, checker restart but appeared to be jumped coming down to the flag. The fans know what they saw and what a wonderful race he ran. When Bassett excited his car at the start finish line he collapsed from heat and breathing carbon monoxide the final part of the race. He was treated on the scene, sent to the hospital for several hours and released.

The UARA-STARS will be in action this Saturday October 12, 2013 at Newport Speedway!
