Garrett Campbell celebrated in victory lane after dominating the FLUIDYNE 150 Presented by Ultra Cool Brake Fans at Tri County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC on Saturday, October 19th.

Campbell was the quickest car for both practices and he followed that up by setting on the Sunoco Pole at 16.211 followed by Ronnie Bassett on the outside pole at 16.222. Charlie Long will receive the Comp Cams Engine Builder of the Race Award once again for servicing the Ford Crate Motor in the Campbell machine. Campbell was also awarded the Driven Racing Oil Fastest Lap of the Race Award.

“I don’t like winning a race on last five laps, I like to dominate,” said Saturday Night’s winner. “That’s what we strive for in the shop during the week and it paid off tonight.”

After numerous restarts and dodging lap traffic, Steve Wallace caught up to Campbell. The two created a fifteen lap show of side by side racing. Soon after that the Holley Performer of the Race Dillon Bassett found his way up to the top three, after starting dead last. Campbell managed to drive away from the two, but a caution brought out by Ronnie Bassett Jr. tightened up the field. This caution would create a green-white-checkered and a lot of pressure for race leader Campbell. Campbell was awarded the FLUIDYNE Cool Under Pressure Award for driving clean to the finish.

“I knew that on that last restart, I had to take the high side to keep the momentum going,” Campbell Said. “I knew that if I took the high side, Dillon couldn’t get the drive off that I had. He got into me some, but that was expected. All in all it was a great night and I can’t thank my team enough.”

The first caution of the night didn’t fall until the Circle Wheel/ Extreme Trophies and More Rookie of the Race winner David Garbo Jr. spun in turn two on lap 53 after contact from Travis Swaim. Garbo Jr., was in a four-way battle for fourth place with Kaz Grala, RA Brown, and Travis Swaim. Driving in a block formation, Garbo was on the inside-front but got sideways in the middle of turn one. He controlled the car for as long as he could. No dramatic damage was done to his racing machine and he was able to pull off an eight place finish.

The second caution was only a few laps later on lap 62 when Ashley Huffman spun on the front stretch. Huffman’s damage was enough to end his night early.

During the restart Wallace was able to take the lead for one lap then back to Campbell for 1. The swap was on then with some side by side excitement. First it would be Wallace leading 2, Campbell 2, Wallace 1, Campbell 4 then Wallace would regain the lead for the next 11 laps, but Campbell took back the lead and would not relinquish it again. Campbell would be the Tilton’s Most Laps Led Award winner with a total of 137 lead laps.

Will Gallaher’s night was also cut short after he spun in turn three and parked his car bringing out caution three.

The field goes green and racing is hard. Garbo is putting his bumper to use on the Chandler Levan car as their battle insues. Soon thereafter Levan spins on the frontstretch bringing out caution 4.

Grant Wimbish,Chandler LeVan, Dylan Hall and Dan Moore piled up in turn four, causing a slick, wet spot on the track on lap 109 for caution 5. The red flag was thrown for the track safety crew to clean it up.

The field stayed green until Bassett Jr. spins on lap 143. This will create a green-white-checkered. Bassett Jr. was awarded Pigwire Electrifying Move of the Race due to this spin and the fact it didn’t wipe out the field behind him.

Rookie contender Garrett Jones was awarded ARBodies Hard Luck Award. Jones who qualified in the top ten, was running mid-pack when he lost a right front wheel bearing. The team had to call it an early night.

The UARA-STARS will be in action Saturday October 26, 2013 at Anderson Motor Speedway.
