A Few Words About Our Favorite Driver Polls

A Few Words About Our Favorite Driver Polls

by October 30, 2013 0 comments

A few weeks ago we started several polls for the favorite driver in some of the racing series we cover. The Pro All-Stars Series South poll has become extremely popular and has had over 6500 votes. Unfortunately there have been some issues with people who wanted to cast votes not being able to. This is caused by the IP logging that was deployed to prevent people from voting more than once per day. Most homes and buildings have a single outgoing IP address regardless of how many devices are in use within. The result is that once a person votes from a building others using different computers are unable to vote.

The alternative to IP logging is Cookie logging which allows one vote per individual computer or device.  Either method can be “tricked” into allowing additional votes and when reviewing the logs for some of the drivers it is quite obvious that this has in fact occurred.   Not only have some people been unable to cast votes but others have been casting multiple votes per day.

These polls aren’t scientific and are simple to allow fans to show their appreciation for their favorite driver and encourage a bit of friendly rivalry. In keeping with the original intent of the polls and to be completely fair to the drivers and especially the fans we made the decision to have a run off for the PASS South Poll beginning November 1st. In order to vote in the poll you must register with The Fourth Turn. Registration is easy and free of charge, you WILL NOT be spam emailed from the site and we will never provide your information to another party. To register simply use your existing Facebook or Twitter accounts by clicking or the icon in the login section at the bottom right of any page or you may click the Register link and use a valid email address.

The Fourth Turn has no affiliation with any of the drivers in our polls and we have absolute no interest in seeing any one particular driver win the poll. We look forward to featuring the winning drivers on our website and will chose a random registered user to receive a Fourth Turn t-shirt. You will also be eligible for give-a-ways in the future if you chose to participate. Other polls will be evaluated as needed. We regret any inconvenience or upset this has caused anyone.  We are simply trying to be fair to all those involved.
