September 24, 2013 – 16 year old UARA-STARS point leader Dillon Bassett continued his win streak Sunday afternoon by going undefeated at Caraway Speedway this season and claiming his third consecutive UARA-STARS victory.

Dillon Bassett had his No. 44 Bassett Racing Ford on track practicing Friday afternoon getting the handling dialed in. Word came Saturday morning that the evening’s events were postponed to Sunday afternoon as rain was imminent. When Bassett returned Sunday he was fastest in first round practice, and second during the final session.

In qualifying Dillon Bassett posted a time of 17.251, placing him fifth on the starting grid as Travis Swaim claimed his seventh Sunoco Pole of the season at 17.101. “We were pretty loose in qualifying. I had my hands full exiting the corners. I’m not worried though, I’m confident this team will make the right adjustments for the race,” Bassett said after qualifying.

Immediately upon the drop of the green flag Sunday afternoon Dillon Bassett showed how strong his car was, overtaking the third position by lap three. The first caution waived on lap seven bringing the red flag as crews worked to clean up fluids from Dylan Hall’s expired engine. Following the restart Bassett quickly jumped into second on lap 21 and began reeling in Garrett Campbell, remaining in his tire tracks as the duo broke out to a straightaway lead when the caution came on lap 42.

On the restart Joey Mucciacciaro was able to get a jump on Bassett’s inside to take second, but Bassett regained the position several laps later. Again reeling Campbell in, Dillon Bassett would have to manage another restart as the caution flew on lap 96. This time Bassett held onto the second position and made the pass for the lead on lap 113.

It was smooth sailing for Dillon Bassett to the checkered flag and for the third time this season he put his No. 44 Butler Trailer / Rex Younger Galleries / Pig Oil Ford in victory lane. He was also awarded Holley Performer of the Race for advancing the most positions in addition to Driven Racing Oil’s Fastest Lap of the Race.

“I cannot believe the momentum this team has going right now. Three wins in a row is incredible. We had a strong car all day but started to get a little free. They kept telling me to just hit my lines and we pulled it out,” Bassett commented. “I cannot thank Seth (Smith) and this entire team enough for the hours they put in. Thanks to Butler Trailers, Rex Younger, and Pig Oil for their support. Also to Performance Center, Roush Yates Performance Parts, Charlie and Robert Long, Wes Page Shocks and everyone else who has a hand in making this package work.”

The next UARA-STARS event will be held at Newport Speedway (TN) on October 12th. Dillon Bassett enters Newport with a 47 point lead over Garrett Campbell. Prior to Newport Bassett will participate in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 for his first appearance at Martinsville Speedway on October 6th.
