Dillon Bassett Aims for Back to Back UARA-STARS Victories at Kingsport

September 10, 2013 – The UARA-STARS will get back on track this Saturday at Kingsport Speedway (TN) after consecutive rainouts at Southern National Motorsports Park and Anderson Motor Speedway. With a promising weather forecast, UARA-STARS point leader Dillon Bassett is looking to carry momentum and capitalize on his point lead.

Not only did 16 year old Dillon Bassett inherit the UARA points lead by winning the most recent event held at Caraway Speedway on July 28th, he is also the defending race winner at Kingsport Speedway. One year to the date of this season’s event, Bassett collected his second win during his rookie season on September 14th at ‘The Concrete Jungle.’

While waiting to rejoin the UARA-STARS, Dillon Bassett and his No. 44 Bassett Racing team joined the NASCAR Whelen competitors at Hickory Motor Speedway for the 37th Annual Bobby Isaac Memorial. Bassett bounced back from a poor qualifying effort and dodged several close calls on the racetrack to finish sixth in his second NWAAS start of the 2013 season.

Heading into Kingsport this weekend, Bassett is eager to match his performance from last season and strengthen his point lead. “We had a really strong car last season; we qualified third and won the race. I feel our car has been a little stronger this season, I just haven’t given us good qualifying runs and run out of time to get to the front,” Dillon Bassett said. “I believe Seth (Smith) and Jason (Stanley) will have us another good racecar this weekend, and hopefully we will be battling for back to back UARA wins.”

Due to the unpredictable weather this summer, the UARA-STARS have had to contend with multiple reschedule dates. The tour announced this week that the event at Anderson Motor Speedway has been rescheduled for October 26th, along with a second event at Tri-County Motor Speedway added to the schedule on October 19th.

Regrettably it was announced the season finale at Rockingham Speedway has been cancelled, and the tour is still awaiting word from track promoters at Dillon Motor Speedway and Southern National regarding those reschedule dates.

With a potentially shortened race season, Dillon Bassett and his Bassett Racing team know they need to capitalize on their point lead and make the most of each event. Bassett will hit the track Friday for practice and racing is scheduled to get underway at 8 PM at Kingsport Speedway. Check out for race coverage if you are unable to make it to the track.
