GREENVILLE, SC :: Anthony Anders scored his 12th win of the season and secured the Greenville –Pickens Speedway Track Championship on Saturday night.  With the victory, Anders also won his third consecutive NASCAR Whelen All American Series South Carolina State Championship.

“I worked hard for it for the last 10 years,” Anders said.  “It’s kind of funny.  I won the Anderson Motor Speedway championship two years ago, then went to Myrtle Beach last year then came back home to Greenville and won that championship.  I’m pretty sure I’ve won the South Carolina State Championship as well.”

Anders has won track championships in three consecutive seasons but had never won a track championship at his hometown track until this season.

“This means so much,” Anders explained.  “There was a ceremony and my name was put on the wall with names like Earnhardt, Pearson and others who have won here.  This is a blessing.  We won 12 races this season at three different tracks.  I couldn’t ask for more.”

Anders won the track championship in style, with a victory on Saturday night.  He scored the win in the first of two twin Late Model features and finished third in the second race.

“I’m glad we were able to win one more,” Anders remarked.  “These guys worked so hard this year and this entire team deserves it.  I’m just so blessed and relieved to finally win a track championship here at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.  So many great drivers have raced here and it’s such an honor to be in the company of names like Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Isaac and Ralph Earnhardt among so many others.”
