Dillon Bassett Looking to Improve Efforts at Tri County Motor Speedway

July 9, 2013 – Dillon Bassett scored his first UARA-STARS career win last season in the seventh event of the season at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC). Although this season’s events at The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars have come and gone, the UARA-STARS head into their seventh stop on the tour this Friday at Tri County Motor Speedway and 16 year old Dillon Bassett looks to earn his first win of the season in this week’s Motorsports Photo 150.

The event at Dillon Motor Speedway in May has been postponed due to rain, moving Tri-County to the seventh event. Last season Dillon Bassett collected a pair of top five finishes on the 4/10 mile Hudson, North Carolina racetrack. After earning his third consecutive Holley Performer of Race at Hickory on June 22nd, Dillon Bassett is hoping to break the cycle in this week’s event.

“It’s great to be the performer of the race, but unfortunately that recognition comes from us starting deep in the field. We’ve had a great racecar to work our way to the front, but I’d love to get a good qualifying run in and really show what we’ve got and contend for wins,” Dillon Bassett said.

With one podium finish this season, second place at Lonesome Pine Raceway (VA), Dillon Bassett is ready to get on track this week and work towards collecting his second. Bassett has worked all summer at Bassett Gutters & More, and during the Fourth of July holiday Bassett chose to spend his day in the race shop helping his No. 44 Bassett Racing team prepare their Ford for their test session.

Unfortunately last Friday’s test day at Tri County Motor Speedway was halted due to the weather conditions, but Dillon Bassett will not have to wait long to hit the racetrack as the UARA-STARS will be on track Thursday for open practice in preparation for Friday’s race.

Hoping for a better forecast this week, the UARA-STARS anticipate a strong field of cars as usual at TriCounty with Sunoco Pole qualifying starting at 5 PM and the green flag dropping for the Motorsports Photo 150 shortly after 7:30 PM.
