Dillon Bassett Aims to Reverse Last Season’s 1-2 Finish at Dillon Motor Speedway

DB 4.8.13May 13, 2013 – The UARA-STARS will be back in action this Saturday at Dillon Motor Speedway (SC) after a month break. 16 year old Dillon Bassett finished tenth at Rockingham on April 13th after starting third and spent his UARA off time participating in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway.

In his first invite to the DH Short Track Showdown Dillon Bassett shocked the field by climbing from 17th in practice to claim the pole over David Ragan, Ronnie Bassett Jr., Kyle Busch and Ben Rhodes. Bassett held his own against top tier NASCAR drivers and came home with a solid seventh place finish.

As the UARA-STARS return to Dillon Motor Speedway for the fourth race of the season Dillon Bassett sits fourth in the point standings, tied with defending champion Travis Swaim, 70 points behind older brother Ronnie Bassett Jr. The younger Bassett is looking forward to returning to Dillon Motor Speedway after having a breakout race last season where he battled Ronnie for the win and came home second, in just his third UARA start.

In his four starts this season Dillon Bassett has two top ten and two top five finishes with his qualifying attempts being strong, improving from last season. Dillon Bassett was disappointed with his performance at Rockingham where he battled an ill handling racecar to finish tenth, and is hoping to have another breakthrough race on the 4/10 mile oval in Dillon, South Carolina.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Dillon. I came so close to winning there last year. It was great to battle Ronnie for the win, and pretty neat to bring home a 1-2 finish for Bassett Racing,” Dillon Bassett said. “We tested this past Saturday and I feel my car was pretty good. My time got cut short because allergies caused my eye to swell shut, but I feel pretty confident in our car. Maybe this time I will beat Ronnie to the checkered,” he continued.

Dillon Bassett and his No. 44 Bassett Racing team led by Seth Smith will rejoin the UARA-STARS tour Friday for open practice and race day is Saturday with the green flag dropping around 8 PM.
