RB 4.8.13April 8, 2013- Round three of the UARA-STARS tour will take place this weekend at Rockingham Speedway in conjunction with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals. As part of the second North Carolina Education Lottery 200 the UARA-STARS will take the green flag at The Rock Saturday for 75 laps.

As Ronnie Bassett Jr. heads into Rockingham this weekend he finds himself in familiar territory. For the second consecutive season Bassett enters The Rock as the
UARA-STARS point leader after winning the first two races, this season held at Southern National Motorsports Park and Hickory Motor Speedway.

Last April Ronnie Bassett Jr. came from the 27th starting position to finish second to Corey LaJoie. After spinning in turn four during qualifying, Bassett rallied his way forward during the 75 lap event but ran out of time to challenge for the win.  This weekend Bassett has his sights set on claiming his first victory at The Rock and continuing his win streak.

“It’s going to be tough, there is a lot of great competition in the series. We’ve had a great car in the past at Rockingham and came close last year. Hopefully we avoid the issue in qualifying this year and get ourselves a better starting position,” Ronnie Bassett Jr. commented.

Of the ten tracks on the UARA-STARS circuit this season, Rockingham is one of three where Ronnie Bassett Jr. has yet to visit victory lane with the tour. In addition to Rockingham, Bassett has not been to victory lane at Lonesome Pine Raceway or Caraway Speedway. Last season Rockingham was the race that broke his win streak, which makes Ronnie Bassett Jr. even more focused and determined for the weekend.

Bassett’s #04 Bassett Racing Ford will hit the track along with the other UARA-STARS Friday afternoon for practice. Qualifying will occur Saturday morning and the 75 lap feature will get underway at 2 PM.
