IMG_2214Devin Jones Racing and Young’s Motorsports head to Southern National Motorsports Park for the UARA-STARS Season opener this weekend, looking to start the 2013 season off with a strong effort in the No. 35 VeriStor Ford. Jones and new veteran crew chief David King will look to contend for the UARA-STARS title.

The team had a very successful test session at Southern National last week. “The car was very consistent and solid throughout the day,” said Jones. “In fact, it was one of the best cars we’ve had straight off the trailer. I’m very confident about the team we have this year and the program we have built with David King’s guidance along with Tyler Young as a new spotter. It is exactly the kind of chemistry that is needed to win championships.”

Jones was a rookie on the UARA-STARS tour in 2012, earning two top five and eight top 10 finishes. As a strong qualifying performer last year, Jones sat on the front row three times and earned his first career Sonoco Pole at Caraway Speedway in July. Despite motor issues that plagued the team throughout the season, Jones finished the year with a respectable sixth-place points finish.

Jones now looks to kick off the 2013 season at Southern National Motorsports Park, a facility that he has grown fond of.

“Southern National is a pretty cool racetrack. I have always seemed to find success at tracks that have banking and Southern National certainly fits that description,” said Jones. “I think it’s great that UARA is starting the season off there. We should put on an exciting show for the fans.”

In addition to running a full UARA-STARS season in his VeriStor Ford Late Model, Jones, along with sponsor VeriStor and new marketing partners HJC Motorsports and Custom Ink will also be embarking on a limited NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule with Young’s Motorsports. The team’s first truck series race will be the Kroger 250 on April 6th at Martinsville Speedway.

This weekend’s UARA-STARS 150 lap event will be on Saturday, March 9th with qualifying taking place at 12:30 p.m. EST and the main event is scheduled to go green at 2:00 p.m. EST.
