anders3GREENVILLE, SC :: Two-time defending NASCAR Whelen All American Series South Carolina State Champion Anthony Anders continued his winning ways on Friday night when he picked up his fifth consecutive win in NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Racing.  Anders scored a victory in Friday night’s 60 lap feature at Kingsport Speedway in Tennessee – his second win at Kingsport this season and second career win at the “Concrete Jungle”.

Anders’ won the race which featured a full car count, thus counting towards the NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Championship which Anders has become a contender for.

“This has just been awesome,” said Anders.  “To win five races in a row is a blessing.  I’m just blessed to be doing what I love to do.  These guys have worked hard all through the offseason and during the year to get us in winning form and now we’re sitting here with five wins.  As far as the National Championship, it’s too early to talk about that but I’d sure love to keep winning and be in contention for it and I think we can certainly contend for it.”

Anders qualified in 12th with a 15.432 second lap.  He worked his way through the field by avoiding the carnage that was taking place in front of him and took the lead on a lap 51 restart.  From there, Anders held off several challenges for the top spot to hold on and score the victory in the 60 lap, 115 minute race.

“Once again, we didn’t qualify as well as we hoped,” said Anders.  “Qualifying remains our biggest struggle.  But we get in race trim and just focus on getting to the front.  Tonight, patience was the key.  All those guys just kept wrecking in front of us and we were able to get through it all.  Once we had a shot at getting the lead, I just went for it.  We got there and were able to hold off the guys behind us.  It’s just a blessing to keep winning races like this.”

Anthony Anders’ next race will be at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Saturday night.
